Holiday Gifts for Kitties

Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? Don’t forget to pick up something for Fluffy! A local Green Bay, WI vet offers some great gift ideas for cats in this article.

You may have noticed that cats are, for some reason, extremely tired. Fluffy is always happy to find a comfy new napping spot. Get your furry buddy a cozy bed. (Note: it doesn’t matter if your kitty already has a bed. Or two. Or three. As far as our feline pals are concerned, there’s no such thing as too many options!)

Toys are the classic kitty gift, and with good reason. Playing is of course lots of fun for cats, but it also benefits them, both mentally and physically. You can choose standard playthings, like catnip mice or plastic balls. Or, opt for something more modern, like a remote-controlled mouse, automated laser pointer, or robotic ‘swimming’ fish.

Cat Tower

Want to really please your feline overlord? Get Her Furry Highness a kitty tower, so she can survey her kingdom from a high vantage point. Fluffy will also gain a scratching post and yet another napping spot.

Scratching Post

Speaking of scratching posts, they are also a great gift idea. Just be sure to pick something sturdy: if your cat’s manicure station wobbles, she may become wary of using it.

Kitty Subscription Box

Did you know that you can sign Fluffy up for a subscription box all of her own? Every month, your kitty will get her own shipment of goodies.

A fresh pot of catnip also makes a ‘purrfect’ gift. Or, offer your feline companion catnip bubbles. (Note: if you do this, don’t forget to get pictures. Cats playing with bubbles are adorable!)

A yummy snack will definitely get your furry pal’s little motor going. Offer your kitty some canned tuna, chicken, or salmon in water. Store-bought treats are also fine. If you like cooking, you can even make your cat’s holiday treats. Try mixing tuna with fat free yogurt and a little parsley. Divide the batter into small portions, and bake for 20 minutes at 350.

When everyone has finished opening gifts, offer your feline friend some of the empty boxes. Fluffy may have a blast hopping in and out of them!
