Emergency Services

Do you know who to call in the event of a pet emergency?

As a loving pet parent, you never want to see your four-legged family member in distress. Unfortunately, unexpected illnesses and sudden accidents can occur at any time. The way you handle these types of situations can make all the difference in the world for your loved one. At Animal Hospital of Ashwaubenon, we want you to know that you’ve got a dedicated team in your corner. You can rest easy knowing that we’ll be there for you in your time of need.

Our hospital is equipped to provide life-saving critical care at a moment’s notice. With staff members who are experienced in emergency medicine, we can quickly diagnose the problem and deliver the most timely and effective care. Most importantly, we will handle your companion’s case with the utmost compassion, doing everything within our power to achieve a positive outcome.

Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Trauma, such as a fall or being hit by a car
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Lameness
  • Disorientation
  • Foaming at the mouth
  • Convulsions/seizures
  • Loss of consciousness

If you notice your companion exhibiting any of these signs, it’s time to call for help right away. At Animal Hospital of Ashwaubenon, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to evaluate the situation and provide first aid instructions over the phone. It also lets us prepare the hospital and other team members for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency not allow time for a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly in for immediate attention.

In order to provide round-the-clock support to our clients, we have partnered with a local veterinary emergency center. They provide after-hours care 6 PM – 8AM weeknights and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. Our partnership ensures that the lines of communication between our two facilities remain open so there is continuity of care for your cherished companion.

We have been going to Animal Hospital of Ashwaubenon since we got our dog 16 years ago. They have been wonderful to our dog and to our family. About 5 years ago our dog became very sick and we thought we would have to put him down. Dr. Lafond saw us and started talking about her dog when it was sick. Due to talking to her we found out our dog was allergic to penicillin. He was taking a medication due to teeth cleaning which had penicillin in it. If it wasn’t for Dr. Lafond we believe we would have lost him! Due to old age we had to put our beloved Thumper down this past spring. The love and support we got from Dr. Lafond and the staff was more than what we could imagine! Thank you so much for taking such good care of Thumper!

We’ve been bringing our fur babies here through many generations of kitties and personnel. They treat us and our cats as though we are family and friends. And who wouldn’t love a vet named Dr.Barker!?
Last visit had our wonderful Casey Cat with a dental issue. As I’m in dentistry myself I was very pleased that my first encounter with Dr.Jesse Hermès had her explaining in detail what the issue was and the remedy she had to render. It was easy to tell she loves her work and our furry friends!
Drs. Gass and Lafond are also high on my list of caring vets through the years of advice and kindness they’ve displayed caring for our furry companions. And the fact that their staff has been there for years is a testament to it being a great place to work! Thanks to you all and many Happy Purrs sent your way!
